Recently, Kevin White, the CEO of Spirit Media, challenged our staff in core values for effective leadership. As we celebrated the formation of three departments: sales, production, and operations, Kevin trained our new department leaders in front of the whole company. Kevin pointed out that department heads are to embody these core values. His point was that these values are not just for department heads but for the whole company.
Today’s value is to be a problem solver.

If you’re a follower, no one can’t necessarily force you to lead. Leadership is a choice. Some are born with a natural ability to influence others and lead.

VPs vs Managers is VPs solve problems. It’s possible for a manager to manage/maintain/follow but not necessarily solve problems. Most people follow. Some people lead. They develop. They solve problems.
Even if you’re not in a position hired to be a problem solver, every staff member in Spirit Media is a problem solver.
